At Anchor Travel we book amazing journeys of all types and to all corners of the world for our clients. We also offer a few specialty, agency escorted, trips each year. Some of our tours are designed in-house (IE - our Scotland Tours) and others are booked through known and trusted partners yet have an agency escort along. If you are new to international travel our guided tours are a great way to ease into this new and exciting, yet somewhat intimidating, arena of travel.
No matter which adventure you choose, rest assured that we will be able to answer any questions you might have and assist with everything for your trip including air from your home departure city.
Check back often often as our destinations and tours change every year. Some of these itineraries can be custom quoted for your own private small group, for a larger group, or even for just 2 or 4 people traveling together.

Anchor Travel has been hosting personally escorted tours for years. Each of our tours are managed by agency owner and lead consultant Tawnya Hoffmann. Click below to find recaps and photos from previous tours.
Our in house, agency designed and managed Scotland tours are for the most part "off the beaten path". You will always have an agency tour manager along taking care of the details as well an experienced driver and amazing guide. We try to work memorable experiences into our tours. That might include a historic weapons demonstrations, a visit to a living history museum, a private concert with local musicians, or likewise. We also believe lodging is an important part of the travel experience so we try to stay in smaller inns, hotels, and guesthouses and whenever possible consider location and historical significance in our itinerary. For example, on the Outlander Tour we spend two nights in a quirky, homey, highland castle hotel! We strive to develop our tours with authentic experiences that will leave you with lasting memories.
We usually limit our tours to no more than 20 people with most of them being 12 passengers maximum. We always leave a few extra seats open giving you a little bit of room to stretch those legs. On our mid-sized groups we are on a 30 passenger coach. For our smaller groups we put 12 passengers on a 16 passenger coach. We find these group sizes are large enough to have a nice mix of personalities to share the journey with, make new friends and memories yet small enough that we can see and do a few things that "big bus" tours cannot.
On our Scotland tours, we always travel with Hugh Allison, acclaimed Scottish author, historian, and Highland storyteller. Hugh brings history to life while traveling throughout Scotland. He shares his unending knowledge about everything from Scottish geology to Clan history.
Year after year, we also have the same talented driver, Mark, team up with Hugh. The two of them are always a highlight of the trip. They have been traveling with Tawnya for a number of years and together, as a team, they make their tours a journey to be remembered!
"I have been on 2 of Tawnya's tours, Scotland With a Touch of Outlander in 2016, the Islands tour in 2017 and in 2018 will be going in on the North Coast 500 tour. These tours continue to amaze me. No words can truly explain the amazing experiences I have had and the lifelong friends I have made. Tawnya has done a brilliant job of of putting together detailed itineraries that hit all the high points but also the special ones that we may not know of! I highly recommend that if you have any interest in traveling to Scotland or anywhere in the world contact Tawnya she will help you plan an amazing vacation."

"My husband and I took the Outlander trip to Scotland (with a bit of Harry Potter and Downtown Abbey thrown in) with Tawnya. From the planning stage through the trip to the end, it was a wonderful trip. Tawnya is well-organized and gives great "bang for the buck." It was a substantive trip; Tawnya doesn't just drop you off and leave you with a bit of tour and lots of shopping. The trip was well planned with full days of sight-seeing at well chosen sites. Tawnya is a hands-on guide. She stays with her group and sees that everyone gets the most of the visit. The Scottish guide Hugh, was also outstanding. Not only did he know his "stuff," but he made it extremely interesting and had a delightful personality. The accommodations were comfortable although we didn't always have elevators. There was always help with luggage, though, if you needed it. In fact, Tawnya was always there to help if needed. What also made it a fun trip was the other people."

"I have traveled with Tawnya twice and would travel with her anywhere! She is very organized, detailed and professional, as well as very personable, fun and caring. She is very knowledgeable and will assist you in planning your next adventure, from beginning to end, from transportation to destination, with class and style. She can tailor any trip to your specific needs and can offer suggestions when needed. I highly recommend Tawnya and her team to anyone wanting to experience life through travel and wherever life's journey wants to take you. I look forward to my next adventure with Tawnya and I truly hope that you will too. She is AMAZING!"
